Things to see and do in Minimay and West Wimmera

Minimay is a small town located in the West Wimmera region of Victoria, Australia. The town is around 25 kilometres from the South Australian border, about halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide.

We are situated in the central part of West Wimmera Shire of Victoria. West Wimmera is home to 25% of the wetlands of Victoria with Lake Charlegrark only three kilometres from Langley Lodge. In addition West Wimmera Shire is 35% covered by native vegetation; this gives opportunities for recreational water activities, bushwalking, birdwatching, and emu and kangaroo sightings. The region is also home to the endangered Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo.

Lake Charlegrark is home to the nationally renowned Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon which is held the third weekend in February each year.

Bringalbert Station – on the banks of Lake Bringalbert, and one of the Hawkins Booroopki Farms properties – was where Tom Hamilton taught and trained many of the 1868 Aboriginal Australian cricket team. At the recreation reserve on the north banks of Lake Bringalbert you will find a commemorative display honouring the first international cricket team to leave Australia.

Other nearby attractions include Little Desert National Park; Johnny Mullagh Cricket Centre in Harrow; Aboriginal Australian cricket team commemoration in Edenhope; World Heritage Listed Naracoorte Caves; Padthaway, Coonawarra and Wrattonbully wine regions; Mount Arapiles; Blue Lake, Mount Gambier; Grampians National Park; and many more.
